Fun
Modern day combat
Diverse weapons and vehicles (sea, air and land)
Some very fun maps
Very fun to play with others, especially with built-in VOIP.
| » Cons | | |
TONS OF BUGS
Not PC friendly, lags a lot for unheard of reasons
Lack of quality support from EA
Don't buy the game if you are looking for single player
Has a lot of good ideas but seems like everything was rushed.
HORRIBLE server browser
Many times the patches will make bugs (1.3... omg..)

This game is very fun until you hit a bug. The game seems very rushed. It has some very awesome ideas but it falls short of expectation.
If you have a computer that is under or even meets the min sys rq, then don't count on a smooth and nice looking game. It will lag a LOT. I have seen better looking games with more going on and I never experience lag. Also, the server browser is extremely slow and SUCKS. You may spend from 5 to 15 minutes waiting to find a good server that you know you won't die of lag from.
There are tons of bugs, many have been addressed in patches but others have still be neglected. Also, in many cases, the patch causes some fatal bugs that you would be better without the patch, such as the 1.3 patch.
This patch added vehicle dropping, but there are already tons of vehicles around and the maps aren't super huge. The vehicles would land in odd places and are usually inaccessible and it's physics for it is bad. Also there are some random crashing going on and extra lag that was not previously experienced.
A new patch has come about in the time of writing this, 1.4. It adds a new map and other crucial bug fixes but I lost interest in BF2 to check it out.
I also wasted my money on the Special Forces expansion and 2 booster packs. The expansion adds many bugs. The ideas are all there, its just not executed like it should and was rushed just in time for the Winter holidays.
The Euro Forces expansion just adds 3 maps and a new army and there are hardly any servers online that play the new maps. The new European army is nice but only 3 maps to play it in??
The Armored Fury booster pack is much better adding American settings and I recommend it. But I think its rape that they charge you $9 for 3 maps, of which I can get free mods that are sometimes much better.
Don't buy the game if you are looking for some fun single player, its virtually non-existent and the AI for it sucks worse than chickens with their head's cut off. And only 15 AI players in a small map... |
