Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with Battlefield 2142, being a harsh critic of EA's policies quiet often. Battlefield 2142 plays as well as Battlefield 2, but also features some nifty additions as well as some balancing. For example, Air Gunships aren't nearly as overpowering as they once were in BF2, now a good AA gunner can take them down without problems.
In the original review here on FS, the staff reviewer said the Infantry combat was a massive downgrade from BF2, this I can agree with on some maps, however on other maps the Infantry combat is better then that of BF2. The Titan map's infantry action leaves a lot to be desired, that is until you board or defend the Titan, then the Infantry combat really heats up.
Some of the maps in the game are top notch, Straits of Gibraltar comes to mind, while others are absolutely horrid and one sided, Fall of Berlin anyone? Also in Titan mode, Servers like to begin lagging horrendously as well as random crashes.
I'm very pleased that I spent the money to get this game after being talked into it by a friend. |
