It's a fast card. For $499 what do you expect to get? At least the 256 MB of video memory make you feel like you got something from spending $499 on a video card.
It looks like the Geforce FX 5900 Ultra does beat the Radeon 9800 Pro 256 card. Which is a good thing seeing as you spent $499 bucks.

It's still a Geforce FX. With all the driver cheats, and the funny excuses that Nvidia gives out, I wouldn't buy a Nvidia based card just for that reason alone.
It still uses a PCI slot. Even without the dust buster this card still needs a PCI slot.
Also the cooling fan is still loud. Just not really loud like the 5800 Ultra.

If your looking to spend $499 on a video card it doesn't really matter if you choose a Geforce FX 5900 Ultra, or a Radeon 9800 Pro 256. At the end your wallet doesn't care, what you get. You still spent $500 bucks on a stupid video card.
If you had to buy a $500 video card then get a Radeon 9800 Pro. You don't need 256 megs of memory as I don't even see 128 being fully used yet. Also you will be much happier with the extra PCI slot, and the better image quality.
Of course with Radeon 9700 Pro's being so cheap why not save $100 bucks? I don't see any reason why people should even think about a Geforce FX card. Let alone think about getting a $500 video card. I can build a PC with that much money.
I say get a Radeon 9700 and turn it into a 9700 Pro, or look for a Radeon 9500 128, and turn it into a Radeon 9700 Pro. Either way you win.
